RESEARCHERS at the Harvard School of Public Health have found that eating too many hot dogs is bad for your health. Their study, published in an American diabetes journal, found that a diet heavy in processed meats – typically five or more portions a week – including hot dogs and bacon, increases the risk of Type 2 diabetes by about 50 per cent in men.…

BRITAIN’S health authorities provide fewer drug addicts with substitution treatment than do a majority of other European Union Member States, a statistical review by an EU drug-use agency has claimed.

POLIO has driven to the edge of extinction, the World Health Organisation has claimed, with only 537 cases being reported globally in 2001. However, an expert panel overseeing the WHO campaign against the disease has warned that given the current prevalence of conflict, polio must be wiped out now, as delays could jeopardise the effort launched in 1988, when polio paralysed more than 1,000 children daily.…
