Argentina wins foot-and-mouth disease case against USA

THE WORLD Trade Organisation (WTO) has told the USA it has broken WTO rules by maintaining restrictions on imports of Argentine beef and livestock following a 2001 outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease in northern Argentina. The panel ruled despite the USA lifting restrictions on exports from Patagonia last August (2014), and last month announcing trade bans on beef from northern Argentina would go in September (2015).
