BY KEITH NUTHALLIN the latest development of the Anheuser-Busch versus Budejovický Budvar battle, the European Court of Justice (ECJ) has ruled the Czech brewer has some protection where it had previously secured rights to the name Budweiser, and they subsequently lapsed. The ECJ ruled that EU national courts could impose conditions on the minimum use or awareness of such trade names, however, leaving a final decision in this case to Finland's supreme court.
