BY MARK ROWEPRODUCTION of vodka and other hard liquors dropped in Russia last year, as the country's bourgeoning middle class continued to choose more upmarket drinks. Analysts believe the trend may reflect the improvement of the Russian economy and the greater disposable incomes of white-collar workers. The output of vodka and hard liquor by Russian companies fell 3.3 per cent on the year to 134.9 million dekalitres in 2003, according to the country's National Alcohol Association.
