VIETNAM CHINA TO SUFFER FROM EU SHOE DUTIES

BY KEITH NUTHALL THE EUROPEAN Union (EU) Council of Ministers has imposed definitive anti-dumping duties on imports into the EU of footwear with uppers of leather made in China and Vietnam. These 16.5% and 10% duties were agreed one day before provisional anti-dumping duties they replace were to lapse, because southern European countries seeking to protect their shoe-makers disagreed over duty levels with northern Europeans wanting cheap shoes for their citizens.
