VENEZUELA'S Anti-Dumping and Safeguards Commission's technical secretariat is to launch a formal investigation into a boom in footwear imports into its country, which are expected to lead to the erection of temporary safeguard duties to protect the local production industry. Caracas has told the WTO of preliminary evidence linking business closures, lower profits and job losses in the sector with an increase in imports.
