VEHICLE MAKERS UNDER PRESSURE TO REDUCE PARTICULATE MATTER IN EXHAUST

FUTURE car models are likely to emit less harmful particulate matter into the air, after the European Union (EU) Council of Ministers approved a new directive limiting these pollutants in ambient air. It insists member states must, for instance, reduce exposure to the finer PM2.5 particles in urban areas 20% by 2020, from 2010 levels.
