A PETITION from the US states of California, Connecticut, New Jersey, New Mexico and Pennsylvania, plus the District of Columbia and New York City has called for a cap-and-trade system on aviation emissions from flights to US airports. Saying domestic and international flights should be covered, the petition says the US should follow the European Union (EU) in trading aviation emissions, a move that has upset the current republican administration.
