A LEGAL challenge this week will attempt to halt a trend of lengthening American copyright protection. The US Supreme Court was to hear a case on Wednesday (October 9) seeking to annul a four-years-old law that extended copyright protection by an additional 20 years. Prior to this, works were protected for up to 50 years after an artist's death. Judges will hear an appeal by Stanford University law professor Lawrence Lessig, who is representing literary website Eldritch Press.
