US GOVERNMENT DETAILS CLAIMS ON HOW CHINA SUBSIDISES ALUMINIUM SECTOR AND BREAKS WTO RULES

The United States has released details of its case against China at the World Trade Organisation (WTO) where it is alleging the country is subsidising its aluminium sector so heavily, this breaks the WTO agreement on subsidies and countervailing measures. Washington has requested formal consultations with Beijing over the issue, and if these do not deliver a resolution (as is likely), then a WTO disputes panel will rule on this highly contentious and political issue.
