BY KEITH NUTHALLFRENCH hair-care giant L'Oréal has launched an alliance with United Nations (UN) cultural and scientific organisation UNESCO to train hundreds of thousands of hair stylists in passing on health advice about HIV/AIDS: not catching it and not passing it on. The idea is that hairdressers and barbers have captive audiences and also a tradition of chatting to customers, so they could also pass on vital health information, especially in poorer countries lacking such knowledge.
