UK DAIRY FACES EC ACTION

BY KEITH NUTHALL THE EUROPEAN Union's Standing Committee on the Food Chain and Animal Health has ruled curd cheese produced by Britain's Bowland Dairy Products Ltd should not be sold in the EU, and that national governments should trace and destroy any curd cheese from this dairy in circulation. This follows a European Commission Food and Veterinary Office inspection, which concluded Lancashire's Bowland was "non-compliant with a whole series of EU food safety laws".
