UK BOOKMAKER WILLIAM HILL TO PAY GBP6.2 MILLION OVER WEAK PROBLEM GAMBLER CONTROLS, BREAKING AML LAWS

BRITISH gambling major William Hill has been ordered to pay penalties worth GBP6.2 million (USD8.62 million) by the UK Gambling Commission, which found the bookmaker had turned a blind eye to probable problem online gamblers. They may have financed bets with stolen money. As a result, William Hill’s online arm WHG (International) Ltd broke UK anti-money laundering (AML) and social responsibility regulations, the commission has ruled.
