EU health Commissioner Markos Kyprianou has been angered by European food processors using the carcinogenic dye Sudan 1, despite controls being introduced in June 2003. These insisted on food ingredients and products being tested for the dye. Kyprianou said he was "concerned old stocks of chilli appear still to be used by food processors", after Sudan 1 was found in British Worcestershire Sauce.
