SOUTH Africa pulp and paper producer Sappi has reported a first quarter loss for 2004, warning that its profits would probably fall year-on-year, prompting industry analysts to reconsider forecasts. The company posted a US$0.09 loss per share for the three months ending December, down from US$0.11 for the September quarter.
