Cigarette consumption is in decline - 2% down, in 2010, according to market researcher Euromonitor, whose August 2011 report Cigarettes in Brazil says sales have fallen from 89.8 billion sticks in 2005 to a predicted 83.4 billion in 2011. But revenue was up 2% in 2010, says the same report, because manufacturers have succeeded with new brand introductions and price increases.
