SMALL CIDER PRODUCERS TO BEEF FROM EUROPEAN COMMISSION EXCISE REFORMS

  THE EUROPEAN Commission has today released its long awaited proposed reforms to European Union (EU) rules on excise duty, which will enable smaller cider producers to charge lower rates currently available to beer manufacturers. These proposals include a legal definition of cider as being between 1.2% and 8.5% alcohol by volume (abv) made from fermenting apple or pear juice or both.
