SINGAPORE IS FIRST AIRPORT TO MEET EU LIQUIDS SECURITY SYSTEM RULE

BY KEITH NUTHALL

SINGAPORE'S Changi airport has become the first airport approved by the European Commission as having sufficient security controls on the sale of duty-free liquids to allow transferring passengers to retain their purchases when catching connecting flights within the European Union (EU). Transit travellers arriving in the EU from other non-EU airports have to forfeit their liquid duty-free imports, but further airport approvals are expected early 2008.
