WITH carbon emissions being a global problem, there is obvious good sense in trying to tackle the issue on a worldwide basis, and the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) has a wide-raging programme to achieve this aim.
Environmental control has not been a priority for an aviation industry beset by security and taxation problems, but the sector knows that it needs to green operations, and a global agreement on aviation and climate change was struck at ICAO's 37th Assembly, September 2010.
