SHEREMETYEVO STRENGTHENS POSITION AS MOSCOW’S NUMBER ONE AIRPORT

SHEREMETYEVO International Airport has strengthened its commanding position in the Moscow civil aviation market, posting a 7.6% growth in passenger traffic during 2016 to 34.03 million passengers. By contrast, its rivals Domodedovo and Vnukovo airports saw their passenger numbers fall last year by 6.6% to 28.5 million and 11.8% to 13.94 million respectively. Sheremetyevo in 2016 controlled 44% of the Russian capital’s air traffic, up from 40.3% in 2015.
