SHELLFISH WATERS – SPAIN

KEITH NUTHALLTHE EUROPEAN Court of Justice (ECJ) has been advised to find Spain in breach of the European Union's (EU) 1979 shellfish water quality directive, especially for the RÃa de Vigo, in Galicia. The legislation orders effective pollution reduction programmes for such key shellfish harvesting waters, but ECJ advocate general Francis Jacobs has found Spain wanting in this regard.
