SEXUAL DISCRIMINATION DIRECTIVE
September 1st, 2004 BY KEITH NUTHALLCOMPANIES across the European Union (EU) will have to ensure that their staff do not discriminate against their customers or clients because of their gender, under a directive that this week (4-10) was approved in principle by the EU Council of Ministers. The legislation widens existing EU rules banning sexual discrimination beyond the workplace and into the wider community, notably to goods and services offered to the public.
