Given suspicious activity reports (SARs) are a foundation of AML/CFT, good advice and training on how to research and write these documents is an essential element of fighting dirty money flows. A good quality SAR (or STR – suspicious transaction report) will contain information useful to law enforcement and obliged entity management, so writing them is a skillset that needs to be honed and kept up to date, requiring critical thinking and an investigative mindset.
