SALES of light trucks – SUVs, CUVs, pick-ups and minivans – are rising in Canada, and the big question is how dominant this segment may become in this north American market. Sales hit 70.9% of the passenger vehicle market according to new 2018 data from Ontario-based DesRosiers Automotive Consultants Inc. In unit terms this amounted to 1.4 million light trucks sold last year, compared to just 577,000 standard cars, and this Canadian market share commanded by larger vehicles is only going to grow.
