SAFETY DIRECTIVES

THE EUROPEAN Union (EU) Council of Ministers has formally approved a directive on specific safety requirements for ro-ro passenger ships. It also approved amendments to the existing directive 98/18/EC on safety rules and standards for passenger ships. These changes also covered safety standards for ro-ro stability, plus the phasing out of ro-ro ships and introducing safety standards for disabled passengers.
