RUSSIAN GOVERNMENT ANNOUNCES AMBITIOUS PLANS TO BACK DOMESTIC BOOK PUBLISHING

The Russian government is considering investing up to Russian Rubles RUB3 billion (USD90 million) to support its domestic book publishing this year, taking the money from a federal ‘Culture of Russia’ programme.According to the Federal Press and Mass Communications State Agency, whichis coordinating this scheme until 2018, these funds will enable the publication of at least 550 new book titles, mostly by Russian authors.
