A THREATENED renewed ban on EU animal product exports to Russia has been averted. Russia has accepted the EU's principle of regional controls, where the European Commission can restrict the sale of products affected by disease to a limited area of EU countries. Moscow had wanted Brussels to block any exports beyond an effected member state's borders, to ensure no diseased products entered Russia.
