BUSINESS partners from different countries in the European Union (EU) will be able to agree in advance of making a deal which national law will apply in any future disputes, under a reformed convention proposed by the European Commission. It has suggested further changes to the Rome II convention, which has been under review since 2003. The Commission has backed the European Parliament in suggesting that companies can agree to ignore the convention's rules on these disputes.
