BY KEITH NUTHALLEUROPEAN Union (EU) drinks producers will gain duty free penetration of the Romanian market by 2007, even if the country's planned EU accession on that year falls through. Under a free trade deal designed to ease its membership, Romanian duties of 60% on brandy, rum, gin, vodka, liqueurs and vermouth imported from the EU would disappear on January 1 of that year, as would 35% duties on EU whiskies.
