JAFFNA University in northern Sri Lanka has been hamstrung with a gradual breakdown in the ceasefire between the government and the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) over the past six months.
"After December there has been an increase in violence. Several students have not turned up for lectures; they are generally not in a mood to study," hard pressed the new Acting Vice Chancellor Prof. R. Kumaravadivel told the Times Higher Education Supplement.
