REGISTRATION TRANSFERS

BY KEITH NUTHALLSIMPLIFICATIONS have been proposed to European Union rules governing the transfer of ships between different EU registries. In particular, the European Commission wants to extend a rule allowing the free registry transfer of cargo ships to passenger ships, where fees are currently payable. Brussels says this is based on recent technical legislation harmonising passenger ship safety standards.
