THE EUROPEAN Commission yesterday (Wednesday) released documents showing that it wants the US to ban export restrictions on selling raw materials to the European Union, during negotiations for the planned Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership. This would be the world’s largest bilateral trade deal, and the Commission has been uncharacteristically transparent by publishing its initial negotiating documents.These show raw materials are a key priority sector for the talks, with the release including an entire paper on raw materials and energy.
