RAPEX SAYS EU DYE SAFETY IMPORTS PROBLEMS CONTINUE

EUROPEAN Union (EU) consumer safety network RAPEX is continuing to report health risks associated with banned dyes in clothing imports into the EU. In its latest bulletins, RAPEX noted a Germany recall of a China-made KiK fleece blanket containing banned azo-dyes (4-amino azobenzene) releasing carcinogenic amines. Another recall came in Hungary of 'AD MIRING' children's black suits, again over azo-dyes banned under the REACH regulation (dimethoxy-benzidine) - their origin was unknown, said RAPEX.
