QATAR IS FIRST GULF STATE TO JOIN GLOBAL ANTI-FLARING INITIATIVE

QATAR has become the first Gulf state to join the Word Bank's Global Gas Flaring Reduction partnership, linking governments and companies in promoting anti-flaring technologies. About 45 billion cubic metres of gas is flared in the Middle East/north Africa annually. Qatar has a zero-flaring target; joining the partnership will help "achieve our goals", said an Emirate communiqué.
