BY JONATHAN THOMSONSMALL shops in Ireland are losing Euros 450 (Pounds 300) worth of shopping baskets every month on average, following the introduction of a Euro 15 cent (10p) environmental levy on plastic carrier bags, according to an Irish small retailers group.The Retail Grocery, Dairy and Allied Trades Association (RGDATA) said the move by the Irish government in February of this year had led to a 95 per cent drop in demand for plastic bags, with many customers taking their shopping home in wire-baskets and trolleys instead, and not returning them.RGDAT ...
