TEXAS-BASED poultry giant, Pilgrim's Pride, is buying rival ConAgra Foods' chicken division. The acquisition, expected to be completed in the third quarter of this year, will double Pilgrim's annual sales to nearly US$5 billion (GBPounds 3.03 billion). The deal catapults Pilgrim from the third largest chicken producer in the US, to second, behind Tyson Foods.
