AMERICAN small pigmeat farmers will be able to opt out of a national marketing programme they say favours packers and retailers. A Michigan
judge found in favour of the Campaign for Family Farms, fighting a National Pork Producers Council levy. The judge quoted Thomas Jefferson:
"To compel a man to furnish contributions of money for the propagation of
opinions which he disbelieves, is sinful and tyrannical."
