PETTEN REACTOR LIFE EXTENDED BY EU COUNCIL OF MINISTERS

THE OPERATION of the high flux research reactor operated by the European Union's (EU) Joint Research Centre, in Petten, the Netherlands, has been extended for one more year by the EU Council of Ministers. The reactor will now continue as a research tool until December 2008, with a Euro 8.5 million budget donated by the Dutch and French governments. Its current funding runs out this December 31.
