EVEN with Europe mired in recession and financial crisis, an awful lot of lorries cross Switzerland moving goods between southern and northern Europe. According to Swiss road transport agency FEDRO, in 2010 the number of heavy goods vehicles transporting goods across the Alps increased 6.5% year-on-year. The following year, the country experienced a less drastic increase of 0.1%, but this still translates to about 1,258,494 heavy goods vehicles rumbling along Swiss roads last year.
