OSTRICH BAN

THE EUROPEAN Union's (EU) standing committee for the food chain and animal health has extended the existing ban on imports of South African ostrich meat until March 31, 2005, lengthening it by two months. The committee said it was waiting for official confirmation of an improvement in the bird flu infection of South African ostriches.
