With rapid economic growth in the past decade or more and a rising middle class in the cities with more disposable income many foreign chains have opened up in recent years. Though market leader KFC has been present since 1997 it only opened its first Hanoi outlet in 2006. Now there are 100 restaurants across the country with plans to double that by 2015.
