Poultry production worldwide will surge ahead in the next nine years, accounting for 28.3 million tonnes (mt) of the additional 57.7mt annual meat production projected from 2011-13 to 2023, says a new global projection. The OECD-FAO Agricultural Outlook 2014, a medium-term agricultural report from the Organisation for Economic Co-operation & Development (OECD) and the UN’s Food & Agriculture Organisation (FAO), says that pigmeat will account for just 16.6mt of this growth.
