NUCLEAR POWER SECTOR SET FOR MAJOR EXPANSION, PREDICTS IAEA EXECUTIVE

THE HEAD of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) nuclear energy department has predicted the number of nuclear power reactors worldwide will increase 60% by 2030. Speaking at the 30th Anniversary Symposium of Korean Nuclear Power Generation, in Seoul, South Korea, Yury Sokolov said nuclear power "has the potential to be a significant, reliable, sustainable and environmentally friendly energy source that can contribute to providing access to affordable energy services..."
