NORWEGIAN SCIENTISTS RECEIVE EU FUNDING TO DEVELOP RARE EARTH SOURCING

NORWEGIAN researchers have told Industrial Minerals how they welcome a Euro 6 million grant has been approved by the European Commission to help them develop new technology to recover rare earth elements from waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) and iron ore tailings.The money will go to Norway’s Foundation for Scientific and Industrial Research (SINTEF - Stiftelsen for Industriell og Teknisk forskning) and the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU - Norges Teknisk-Naturvitenskapelige Universitet).
