NEW STRAIN OF BLUETONGUE VIRUS IN ITALIAN OUTBREAK

A NEW strain of a listed disease has been identified in an outbreak of bluetongue virus in central Italy, according to the information provided to the World Animal Health Organisation (OIE) by the Italian health ministry’s department for veterinary public health. Four cases in sheep in the central Italy Viterbo region and two cases in cattle in the nearby Grosseto region have been identified, according to the report.
