NEW HEALTH COMMISSIONER THREATENS DRINKS INDUSTRY WITH MARKETING LAWS

NEW EUROPEAN Union (EU) health commissioner Androulla Vassiliou has said she will not rule out legislation forcing the EU alcohol industry to advertise its products responsibly. Addressing the EU's alcohol and health forum in Brussels, she said: "I expect the alcoholic beverages industry to market their products responsibly and especially not to directly or indirectly target children and young people." The body includes 46 organisations, including drinks companies, charged with developing industry policies combating alcohol abuse. ...
