TESTS carried out by European Union (EU) food manufacturers and retailers ensuring their products are not excessively contaminated with pesticide residues became easier with the coming into force of EU-wide maximum residue levels for different foodstuffs. This replaced national residue limits set by the EU's 27 member states.
