NEW EU AIRPORT CHARGING DIRECTIVE APPROVED BY EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT

THE EUROPEAN Parliament has approved a revised set of rules saying how European Union (EU) airports can charge airlines. MEPs agreed a series of amendments, some of which will need further approval from the EU Council of Ministers to be come into effect. MEPs want a smaller number of airports covered - those with an annual throughput of at least five million passengers, while the European Commission had wanted a much lower one million threshold.
