NEW ATC TOWER TO BE FORMALLY DEDICATED AT SARASOTA, FLORIDA

Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport has a new USD25 million 128-foot tall air traffic control tower, to be formally opened in September. Meanwhile, Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) staff (20 air traffic controllers and 14 technical operators maintaining equipment) started working there in June. The 525 square-foot tower cab controls flights to 4,000 feet within a five-mile radius of the airport; from five to 10 miles from the airport, it controls 1,200 ft to 4,000 ft movements.
