NEVADA state attorneys have outlined their case against the US government over the designation by President Bush of Yucca Mountain, northwest of Las Vegas, as a nuclear waste repository. A federal court has already agreed to hear challenges to the February 15 decision. The lawyers will say the decision was based on standards that offer inadequate protection from radiation exposure to people living along potential escape paths of radioactive materials.
